MFAIC Club and Associations

The MFA Club was created 65 years or so ago for entertainment and social purposes and occupies an extensive tract of the green embankment along the Tiber near Ponte Milvio.

The Club has large halls and rooms for receptions, bridge and television, and a well-equipped and serviced restaurant, cafe and canteen.

The Club's membership includes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation diplomatic staff. Other employees of the Ministry can request membership in the club, and this opportunity is also extended to retired MFAIC employees. For the purposes of encouraging contact, especially with foreign diplomats and with particularly qualified contexts, the Board of Directors of the Club every year admits a limited number of additional members, allowing them to participate in social activities in accordance with the rules.

Precedence is given, by statute, to the members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited at the Quirinal Palace, the Holy See and International Organizations with headquarters in Rome, officials of those organizations to whom diplomatic status has been granted, Parliament members, foreign press correspondents accredited at the Ministry Press Service, Italian journalists enrolled in the professional association, the close relatives of members and the high officials of other Ministries or Bodies. Application for membership must be counter-signed by two current members and accompanied by a letter of presentation written by one of those two members.
