Office I – Financial and administrative management of Italian missions abroad

• Administrative and financial autonomy of Italian diplomatic and consular missions;
• mission budgets: budget scrutiny, financial allocations, auditing of management budgets and end-of-year accounts, guidance on obtaining revenue and payment of expenses;
• active accountancy and legal expenses;
• consular fees;
• follow-up to administration inspections and audit missions, un-spent expenditure account (CCVT).

Office II – Public Property management in Italy

• Management and maintenance of the Ministry building (the Farnesina Palace) and its branch offices in Rome, their fixtures, furnishings, appurtenances and equipment;
• energy management of Ministry building, relations with competent government offices in matters concerning works and property;
• setting-up of conferences;
• consignments and inventories;
• car park;
• workplace safety for Ministry personnel;
• central procurement of goods and services on the Government’s Electronic Marketplace and through CONSIP (publicly owned company responsible for rationalisation of public sector procurement), purchase of publications and operation of printing service;
• Ministry certification officer.

Office III – Public property management abroad

• Planning, management and administrative and technical surveys concerning the rental, purchase, sale, construction, renovation, restoration and maintenance of posts abroad, whether state-owned or leased;
• enhancement of state-owned posts;
• guidance, coordination and inspections concerning workplace safety abroad, structural-stability and maintenance assessments of posts abroad;
• security, furnishing and equipping of posts abroad;
• vehicles and maintenance;
• accommodation for staff in service abroad;
• inventory checks for movable and immovable property, assets account, disposal or leasing of state property abroad;
• CIMAE secretariat.

Office IV – Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development and management, computerisation of services and procedures

• Development and management of information technology (IT) systems, digitalisation of office procedures and practices by implementing the Digital Administration Code;
• IT infrastructure security policies;
• promotion of technological innovation in the ministry and its spheres of competence;
• procurement of IT goods and services.

Office V – Communications, communications security (COMSEC) and diplomatic couriers

• Development of communication technologies;
• state encryption, communications security and cryptography;
• document dematerialisation in the framework of the Digital Administration Code;
• national and international communications networks;
• promotion of technological innovation in the Ministry and its spheres of competence;
• diplomatic courier service: dispatch and transport of diplomatic correspondence between the Ministry and its offices abroad, courier trips, handling of diplomatic bags, sorting and forwarding of correspondence;
• automation of procedures;
• procurement of goods and services in sectors of competence.
