Italian Cultural Institute Courses

Of the 89 Italian Cultural Institutes that make up our network, 83 offer various types of Italian languages courses. More than 7.395 courses were offered by Italian Cultural Institutes in 2012. The majority of these were held in Europe – 2.514 in EU member countries 661 in extra-EU countries – followed by the Americas (2.259), Asia and Oceania (1.377 courses), the  Mediterranean and Middle East (544) and, finally, Sub-Saharan Africa with 40 courses.
There were more than 70.773 enrolments in Italian language and culture courses, subdivided as follows: 30,068 in Europe, 23,466 in the Americas, 5,785 in the Mediterranean and Middle East, 10,992 in Asia and Oceania and 462 in Sub-Saharan Africa. There is enormous potential for growth in the number of enrolments in fast-developing regions such as Asia.

Diversification of language offerings

The courses offered by the Italian Cultural Institutes maintain their level of excellence thanks to the presence of highly qualified instructors and, over the years, diversification in the types of courses offered has made it possible to serve a broader public with more specialized interests. Courses focused on music, cinema and food/wine, in addition to specific sectors of public interest such as healthcare, administration/finance and art have further enriched the student population.
