Italo-Argentine Interuniversity Collaboration

Collaboration between the universities of the two countries is very intense—consisting of no less than 248 agreements, according to a study by CONICS.

The University of Bologna has had a permanent branch in Buenos Aires since the 1999-2000 academic year, officially integrated into local legislation, for interdisciplinary joint masters degree programmes. The project envisages a semester for Argentine students at the University of Bologna and this initiative is supported by a study grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

CUIA also has an office in Buenos Aires, which was set up in 2003 on the basis of a network agreement between the Consejo Interuniversitario Nacional dell’Argentina and an association of 24 Italian universities (Camerino, Università Politecnica delle Marche, Universities of Basilicata, Bari, Politecnico di Bari, Bologna, Cassino, Lecce, Macerata, Naples "Federico II", Padua, Pavia, Perugia, University for Foreigners of Perugia, Rome "La Sapienza", Rome Tor Vergata, Roma Tre, University for Foreigners of Siena, Teramo, Turin, Udine, Urbino, Università della Tuscia in Viterbo, Ferrara). The Cornsortium’s main tasks are to

  • promote and sustain cooperation between Italian and Argentine universities;
  • strengthen relations between universities and businesses;
  • disseminate Italian culture in Argentina.
