International prize for young photographers in Italy and the UK

03 February 2011

“Genius Loci: the spirit of place and cultural diversity” is the title of a photography contest run by the Accademia Apulia (non-profit London organization), a creative platform for the discovery of talented photographers of all nationalities aimed, at the same time, at strengthening the cultural bonds between Italy and the UK. The initiative has the patronage of the Italian Cultural Institute of London, the British Council, the Region of Puglia and the British Consulate in Milan.

Photographing the identity of places and cultural heritage is a task that involves deep reflection on a multifaceted society. People and traditions interact, changing and enhancing the environmental and relational fabric of their communities.

Of the project’s over 300 participating artists, three have been selected as finalists—Stefano Morelli, Matteo Sandrini and Alex Boyd—whose works will be displayed in London at the Royal Horseguards, Whitehall. During the exhibition’s opening ceremony, which will take place on 11 February 2011, the jury will announce the winner, who will be awarded a prize of £1,000.
