Italian business persons from the marble sector on a mission to Herat met in early July with Nasim Doost, President of the Equity Capital Group, the main Afghan group in the sector of marble quarrying and cutting, along with the Governor of the Province Daoud Saba and President of the Chamber of Commerce Khatibi. The Italian business persons were also able to attend a meeting organized by Second Secretary Bernardo with his colleagues at the American Consulate, to discuss the upcoming Herat Trade and Investment Conference planned for the autumn. The meeting confirmed the excellent business opportunities in the sector of marble and minerals, such as onyx, mica and talc. Indeed, it was agreed that a new mission would be arranged for September in order to visit the quarries owned by the Boost brothers in the almost inaccessible area of Chest-i-Sharif.
