ITALY-CHINA: Zhengzhou celbrates the 100th anniversary of the Don Luigi Calza hospital

The city of Zhengzhou is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the local People’s Hospital, founded by Italian priest and later bishop Don Luigi Calza, who worked until his death building schools and training centres, and who also set up numerous orphanages during the famine of 1911-1913.

Present at the ceremony were Vice President of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Zhang Meiyin and representatives of the on-line edition of the People’s Daily, the Communications Office of the Chinese Ministry of Public Health and the Association of Chinese Hospitals, along with Ambassador of Italy to the People’s Republic of China Massimo Iannucci.
