Over 2,000 spectators attended the concert by the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Montevideo. The event was organised by the Centro cultural de Musica of the capital of Uruguay in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and Cultural Institute, and held at the Auditorio nacional del Sodre, and was the culmination of a broad-based calendar of events planned for the Year of Italian Culture in Uruguay.
