Serbia offers a full immersion in the music of Puccini

The Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, in association with the National Theatre of Belgrade, presented a concert-lesson dedicated to Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. The guest of the evening was Milan-born Maestro Alberto Veronesi, one of Italy’s most renowned Italian orchestra conductors specialised in Puccini’s repertory and president of the Festival Puccini di Torre del Lago. He presented the life and the works of one of the most widely loved and performed composers in the world. The evening’s programme included a selection of Puccini’s work sung by Olivera Mercurio (soprano), Višnja Popov (mezzo soprano) and Janko Sinadinović (tenor) accompanied by Maestro Veronesi at the piano. Present at the event were also Dejan Savić, superintendent of the National Theatre of Belgrade, and Davide Scalmani, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade.
