Kazakhstan - Environment, Basilicata the protagonist at Expo 2017

The launching of the week of the Basilicata Region, taking place in the Italian Pavilion at Astana Expo 2017, was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Stefano Ravagnan. The programme, which will run until 12 August, will include the sharing of experiences in the fields of renewable energy, bioarchitecture, and green technologies for environmental sustainability. There are also two exhibitions scheduled. One, entitled 'Viaggio in Basilicata' (Traveling in Basilicata), features watercolours depicting the region's landscapes painted by Fabrice Moireau, whose art presents the images of the territory to international visitors. The other exhibit offers 3D photos dedicated to food and the promotion of agrifood products. The press conference at the event was attended by Gerardo Travaglio, chief head of staff of the President of the Regional Council; Carmen Santoro, head of the Basilicata Region Department of the Environment; and Antonio Baldassare, director of Agip Karachaganak. Mr Travaglio greeted the participants on behalf of Governor Pittella, and thanked all the partners that contributed to the organisation. He also outlined the wide range of activities planned by the region. He underlined the importance of the presence and promotion of the Basilicata Region, as well as 15 others, that will be showcased every week in the Italian Pavilion at this important international Expo. "In Astana, the Basilicata region is represented in all its facets, not only in terms of energy and sustainability, but also with its natural, cultural and touristic heritage. We wish to show our territory to the entire world and all the work which is being done to present the beautiful city of Matera and the entire Basilicata Region as the Capital of European Culture in 2019, " said the chief head of staff.
