Podgorica hosted the football match between the Diplomatic National teams of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Italy and Montenegro. Italy won on the playing field although the match represented a great political and diplomatic success for both Countries. The match was Italy’s tribute for the 10th anniversary for Montenegro’s reconquered independence and a meaningful celebration of the10th anniversary of the resumption of bilateral relations, eloquent proof of which was the presence at the match of the President of Montenegro’s Parliament, Darko Pajovic.
Another significant aspect of the event was its humanitarian purpose: the box office revenue, compounded with the contribution of each member of the Italy team, will be devolved to the facilities for disabled children in Cetinje and Mojkovac.
The football match received broad media coverage especially thanks to the presence of former champion and current President of the Football Association of Montenegro, Dejan Savicevic, and of the old glory of the Red Star Belgrade, Zoran Bingulac, the current Serbian Ambassador in Podgorica.
