Italian design icons are getting ready to win the hearts of Lebanese people. Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Massimo Marotti, recently inaugurated the exhibition “Design Icons” in the prestigious Villa Audi art gallery, in the heart of Beirut. The show was organised by the Italian Institute of Culture in partnership with the Fondazione Sartirana Arte, the Semaan Gallery and the Audi Foundation to display, for the first time in Lebanon, an “anthology” of the most renowned design objects conceived to decorate homes by combining beauty, comfort and functionality. The exhibition retraces 90 years of the history of design, from 1920 to date, and features the most acclaimed brands of Italian design: Fontana Arte, Artemide, Zanotta, Lodola, Kartell, Floss, Stoppino, Poggi, Castellani & Smith, Zompi, La Murrina. The exhibition will showcase the “iconic” objects admired the world over – chairs, armchairs, lamps, sofas and tables – that constitute the highlights of the industrial and artistic history of Brand Italy.
