China - Fashion speaks Italian to celebrate Italian Language Week
“Fashion speaks Italian" and is inspired by art: this is the theme of the fashion show the students from Beijing's Fashion School, hosted by the Italian Culture Institute, have organised within the framework of the events for the Italian Culture and Language Week in China. The work of over 30 designers-to-be, led by Professor Yanh Jie, are reinterpretations of the famous paintings by Giovanni Boldrini, the renowned Ferrara-born painter, drawing inspiration from the exhibition  “Boldini, Master of the Belle Epoque”, on show at Beijing's China Millennium Art Museum. "The collection of the student designers is a passionate homage to Italian style, expressed both in art and in fashion, in literature and design, as a bridge between the past and the present," said Professor Yang Jie.  The professor, who has studied at length in Italy, where he achieved his specialisation, participated this year in the independent section of Milan's Triennale. The exhibition “Boldini, Master of the Belle Epoque” was launched on 20 July during the visit of the Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism to China. By 9 October, when it closed, it had recorded over 20,000 visitors.
