The Farnesina (Italian Foreign Ministry) has launched a programme of scholarships for South African citizens and Italian nationals resident in South Africa who want to continue their studies or research projects in Italy. "The grants give South Africans the chance not only to spend a few months in Italy and study the language, but also to play an important role in promoting bilateral relations between the two countries," said Alessandro Costa, First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Pretoria. The programme offers 820 euros per month. People can contact the Italian Institute of Culture in Pretoria for more information.
Applications open until 15 April
Students have until April 15 to submit their applications for any discipline at any level, from three-year undergraduate courses to post-graduate courses and Master’s degrees. This is not the first such proposal from the Farnesina in South Africa. Last year, the Italian Embassy offered scholarships to study architecture and design at the Milan Polytechnic University for academic year 2016-2017.
