Denmark: The city of the future takes centre-stage in Copenhagen
The event held in Copenhagen celebrated the Italian Design Day in the World, now at its third edition, and focused on this year's theme  "Design and the City of the Future". The event, which was hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Copenhagen, presented a replica of the building yards of Milan's Metro 4 Line. MIND- Milan for Mobility - the innovative project was combination of a graphic project as well as an illustration and design for the city, introducing an exhibition and conference on integrating construction yards into the urban landscape of a Smart City along the red line of design, the leitmotif of the day.

The Ambassador of Italian Design in Denmark is Maria Di Pierro, professor at IED and founder of "Mostro Graphic Design Camp" which is the event organizer that built a bridge between Milan, the Italian capital of design, and Copenhagen, the undisputed heart of Scandinavian design. Professor Di Pierro said: "Italian design can also develop in a construction yard, shaping the urban landscape for all citizens."

The exhibition was made possible by the active participation of the Milan-based firm MOST, creator of the visual communication philosophy of Milan's Metro 4 Line . The vent was under the aegis of the Bauer School, represented by Luciana Gunetti, Professor of Graphic Design at the prestigious CFP Bauer, one of the most important schools of Photography and Visual and Multimedia Communication in Italy. An Italian engineer, Roberto Barone, the head of the construction yard of the new Copenhagen metro line and of the  CMT-Copenhagen Metro Team, an Italian consortium led by the Salini Impregilo group which is buidling the metro line, also attended the conference.

His participation showed that a construction yard can be integrated as a physical, aesthetic, cultural and technological component of an urban space. Thus, design was discussed and presented through the concept of 'integration'. As for the Internet of Things, design is present in the space around us, in neighbourhoods, buildings, homes, transportation means, but also benches, chairs, tables and even light bulbs. They all make our space more pleasurable to live in and boost mobility, thus helping the city of the future to take shape.
Ambassador Luigi Ferrario made the opening remarks at the event that brought the traditional concept of industrial design to a new 360° perspective while at the same time promoting Italian companies operating in Denmark in the strategic sector of infrarstructure.
