Italy, the only European country to have a Country Pavilion, participates in the Expoagro Fair that is held in San Nicolas, in the province of Buenos Aires from 12 to 15 March, with a 600-square-meter Pavilion and 11 exhibitors. The Pavilion is managed by ICE Agency in partnership with the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires and the National Federation of Machine Manufacturers (FederUnacoma).
Expoagro is one of the most important fairs in South America dedicated to the agri-food and livestock industries. The surface area of the fair covers 200,000 square meters and last year the Fair registered a record participation of 400 exhibitors, with a turnover of 500 million dollars. The Italy Pavilion was opened by Ambassador Giuseppe Manzo and by the Secretary General of the province of Buenos Aires, Fabian Perechodnik. As a side event, the Embassy, ICE Agency and the Argentinian Foreign Ministry organised a workshop on the industrial opportunities offered by the agricultural machinery sector.
The presence of our excellence-quality companies in this field testifies to Italy’s great interest in Argentina’s agro-industrial sector and the opportunities it offers. Italy focuses great attention on the Argentinian market with a view to increasing agricultural machinery exports, which are now worth approximately 600 million euros, more than 50% of Italy’s total exports to Argentina. Interest is also high for establishing industrial partnerships in the machinery sector, with a special focus on alternative energy sources (biomass and biogas), irrigation and environmental management systems. The aim is to bolster cooperation between Italian and Argentinian businesses and tighten ties between the EIMA Agricultural Fair of Bologna and the Expoagro Fair.
