Mascate – Omani children and the Magic Flute, an Italian project

The goal of Italy’s Opera Domani project, which has now come to Oman, is to help children appreciate lyric opera, a musical genre often considered too difficult for them. The Royal Opera House of Mascate featured four days of performances of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” for the benefit of thousands of Omani children, giving them the possibility to sing some of the great composer’s most famous arias with the professionals. The project was five months in the making and involved the teachers of the Teatro Sociale di Come – AsLiCo who worked to prepare local teachers and their pupils for this interactive event.
