Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni will be in Tokyo today and tomorrow for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Italy-Japan bilateral relations and to attend the opening of two exhibitions, “Gems and Jewels of the Medicis” and “Renaissance Masterpieces from the Art Galleries of the Venice Academy”. The two exhibitions are part of the extensive programme of events organised for the anniversary which, in addition to the art shows, also includes tours by major Italian drama companies and orchestras, sport events and events promoting Italian life style and brand Italy.
G7, focus on terrorism, Mr Gentiloni opens session on refugees
On April 10 and 11, Mr Gentiloni will attend the 2016 G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Hiroshima, where he will introduce the session devoted to the issue of refugees. Fighting terrorism and violent extremism will be the focus of the Summit, in addition to the situation in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. The debate will also concentrate on Iran, the peace process in the Middle East and Libya and extend to issues relative to Asia, including North Korea, and maritime safety. The second day’s agenda will focus on the topic of disarmament and non-proliferation, the situation in Ukraine and Africa and cyber security. The seven Foreign Ministers will also visit Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial.
