Scalfarotto: the detention of Maria Kolesnikova is unacceptable

“The detention of Maria Kolesnikova, expulsions, unjustified arrests and persecution of Belarusian opposition members and peaceful protesters are unacceptable and incompatible with the values of freedom and democracy shared by all the European countries,” said Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto. “I appeal to the Belarusian authorities asking them to immediately release María Kolesnikova and all those detained because of their political positions. I also invite them to initiate dialogue with the opposition and ensure respect for the human rights of all Belarusians”, concluded Scalfarotto.
