“Luci ed Ombre” (Lights and Shadows) is the title of a concert of classical music that was held on October 27 at the Auditorium of the Italian Institute of Culture in Beijing. The pianist Beatrice Rana and the cellist Ludovica Rana performed music by Felix Mendelssohn, Fryderyk Chopin and Giovanni Sollima.

The concert was the second in the series of classical music concerts entitled “Suite Italiana”, organized and co-produced by the Institute, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Beijing and Fazioli Pianos, the prestigious Italian piano-makers. The opening concert, entitled “Primavera” (Spring), was held a few days ago, with an extraordinary performance for piano and violin by the musicians Roberto Prosseda and Sonig Tchakerian playing pieces composed by Beethoven, Mozart and Petrassi.

Both performances, presented by Liu Xiaolong, musicologist of the Central Conservatory of Music of Beijing, were recorded at the Auditorium of the Italian Institute of Culture, with an in-person audience as well as viewers on the local ZaiYi platform.

The cycle of “Suite Italiana” video concerts, consisting of seven performances that will take place in the coming weeks until December, is part of the “Road to 2022” program of events organized by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Institute of Culture in view of the celebration of the Year of Italian Culture and Tourism Italy – China 2022.
