To mark the National Space Day 2021, the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires organised a webinar titled “Italy and Argentina in Space”, held on 16 December.
Space technology is a priority sector for scientific collaboration between Italy and Argentina. Most recently, following the launch of the SAOCOM 1B satellite on 30 August 2020, the Italian-Argentinean Satellite System for Emergency Management – SIASGE – was completed, an aerospace cooperation project between ASI (Italian Space Agency) and CONAE (Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales), consisting of two Argentinean satellites (1A/1B) and four satellites from the Italian COSMO-SkyMed constellation.
The virtual event, held on the occasion of the National Space Day 2021, saw Italian and Argentinean researchers present three projects in the field of satellite technologies, within the framework of the 7th Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Italy and Argentina, for 2021-2023.
