The Declaration of Value issued locally<\/strong> (Dichiarazione di Valore in loco<\/em>) for an educational or professional qualification obtained abroad is a document issued by Italian diplomatic and consular Missions, which describes the value and standing of the qualification in the country of origin. The Declaration of Value does not constitute recognition of the qualification<\/strong>, but is an informational document<\/strong> that educational institutions and the authorities responsible for recognizing qualifications in Italy may use to assess such qualifications, for the purposes of further study, professional practice, etc.<\/p>\n

The information contained in the Declaration of Value regards the following aspects: the nature and level of the institution that awarded the foreign qualification; the statutory duration of the programme of study; admission requirements; any grade awarded with reference to the applicable grading system; the value and standing of the qualification in the country of origin for the purposes of further study and, where applicable, professional practice; and any other information deemed useful for its assessment in Italy.<\/p>\n

Office III of the Directorate-General for Services to Citizens Abroad and Immigration Policies (DGIT),<\/strong> through the Italian diplomatic and consular network abroad, provides assistance with obtaining a Declaration of Value locally exclusively to beneficiaries of international protection in Italy<\/strong>, as their status prevents them from contacting the authorities of their country of origin or travelling there to obtain it.<\/p>\n

The Declaration of Value is issued free of charge only if<\/strong> it is requested for proven study purposes (in which case a certificate of enrolment or pre-enrolment at an Italian university or educational institution shall be enclosed), for social security and welfare purposes, or upon submission of documentary evidence attesting to a state of indigence, as provided for in Article 66 of Legislative Decree No. 71\/2011.<\/p>\n

For all other purposes (employment, competitive recruitment procedures, recognition of equivalence, etc.), the issuance of the Declaration of Value is subject to payment of the consular fee set out in Article 66O of the Schedule of Fees for Consular Services.<\/strong> For further information on consular fees, please consult Consular Legislation \u2013 Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Payment shall be made by bank transfer to the bank account specified on the website of the relevant diplomatic or consular Mission<\/strong>, unless otherwise instructed by the Mission. Any alternative payment arrangements should be checked directly with the Mission concerned.<\/p>\n

As an alternative to the Declaration of Value, and solely for the purpose of further study<\/strong>, applicants are encouraged to contact CIMEA<\/strong> to check whether they can request a Statement of Comparability<\/strong><\/a> for their qualification through the free service <\/strong>CIMEA for Refugees<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The procedure for requesting a Declaration of Value for beneficiaries of international protection consists of the following phases:<\/p>\n

  1. Preliminary Phase<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Applicants shall send an email to <\/strong>dgit-03.ddv@esteri.it<\/strong><\/a>, providing their personal details and scanned copies of their documents for preliminary review.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The email shall include:<\/p>\n
