The EUI&#8217;s academic centre, which is renowned internationally for its excellence, has four departments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Economics<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> History and Civilisation<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> Law<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> Political and Social Sciences<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It offers <strong>doctoral and post-doctoral programmes<\/strong> to over <strong>600 researchers<\/strong> from more than <strong>60 countries<\/strong>, consolidating its role as one of the most prestigious research centres in Europe and worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Institute is supported by <strong>24 EU Member States and associated countries<\/strong>. Its academic community has over <strong>2,000 members<\/strong>, whose work takes place in numerous historic locations in Fiesole and Florence, many of which are provided by the Italian Government. These include Badia Fiesolana, Palazzo Buontalenti and Villa La Fonte.<\/p>\n<p>The EUI hosts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies<\/strong>, dedicated to interdisciplinary research on European and global policy issues;<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Max Weber Programme<\/strong>, a pathway to international academic careers;<\/li>\n<li><strong>The School of Transnational Governance (STG)<\/strong>, founded in 2017, which offers training on global governance issues, a Master&#8217;s degree in Transnational Governance, courses for executives and programmes for Policy Leader Fellows and Young African Leaders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>EUI library<\/strong> holds over <strong>500,000 volumes<\/strong> and an extensive collection of electronic resources, attracting scholars from across Europe. The campus also houses <strong>the Historical Archives of the European Union<\/strong>, which collect the official documents of the EU institutions, offering a unique resource for the study of European integration.<\/p>\n<p>The EUI regularly welcomes <strong>heads of state, political leaders and world-renowned academics<\/strong>, who participate in <strong>conferences, workshops and summer schools<\/strong>, contributing to a dynamic and open intellectual environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doctoral programmes and the Master of Research in Economics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a member country of the EUI, Italy offers a number of <strong>scholarships<\/strong> each year, through the MAECI, to <strong>foreign researchers<\/strong> who wish to pursue a <strong>doctorate<\/strong> in one of the Institute&#8217;s <strong>four departments<\/strong>.
