The\u00a0<strong>MED-Dialogues<\/strong>\u00a0event will close on <strong>Saturday, 4 December,<\/strong>\u00a0with a closing address by Minister Luigi Di Maio<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Instead, on\u00a0<strong>2 December,\u00a0<\/strong>a preview event \u2013 the <strong>Med-Fora<\/strong> \u2013 will be held consisting in a series of international seminars<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Conference will be attended, <strong><u>both in person and online<\/u><\/strong> by the following persons \u2013 among others \u2013<strong> Josep Borrell<\/strong>, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; <strong>Paolo Gentiloni<\/strong>, European Commissioner for Economy; <strong>J. Pedersen<\/strong>, United Nations Special Envoy for Syria;\u00a0<strong>Staffan De Mistura<\/strong>, Personal Envoy of the Secretary General for Western Sahara, United Nations;\u00a0 <strong>Emanuela Del Re<\/strong>, European Union Special Representative for the Sahel; <strong>Sven Koopmans<\/strong>, Special Representative for the Peace Process in the Middle East, European Union;\u00a0<strong>Zhan Jun<\/strong>, Special Chinese Envoy for the Middle East;\u00a0<strong>Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo<\/strong>, OPEC Secretary General.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MED Dialogues 2021<\/strong> aims to develop &#8220;a positive agenda&#8221; for the Mediterranean, at a time of pandemic and political and economic transition, based on multilateralism as a strategy for conflict resolution. Among the strategic themes at the heart of the debate are the main security challenges, innovative policies for the management of migratory flows, the fate of the younger generations after the pandemic, the main actions to accelerate the transition towards a green and sustainable economy, the complex problems posed by the climate emergency and reviving the Middle East peace process. It will be an opportunity to discuss how to respond cooperatively to the widespread need for security in a complex and multifaceted region.
