The Mission of the Crisis Unit<\/strong><\/p>\n

The protection of Italian citizens abroad in emergency situations<\/strong> – international terrorism, social and
\npolitical tensions, natural disasters, pandemics and health emergencies – has always been a primary commitment of the
\nMinistry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).<\/p>\n

New risk factors, multiple threats that are difficult to foresee<\/strong>, together with the intensification of
\ntravels in all parts of the world, have led to a strong demand for information, prevention and assistance measures in
\nincreasingly varied contexts.<\/p>\n

The Crisis Unit<\/strong>, which reports directly to the MAECI Secretary General, responds to these needs.<\/p>\n

It is an agile and flexible structure, active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, made up of a group of about 30 people who
\nwork according to state-of-the-art operational methods, making use of constantly evolving technological tools.<\/p>\n

Get information<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Crisis Unit places special emphasis on prevention<\/strong>, by analysing the security situation in the world
\nthanks to the data collected by the Italian diplomatic network, the monitoring of open sources, and the ongoing
\ncollaboration with other State agencies and with our European partners.<\/p>\n

The results of this activity are made available to citizens on the portal ViaggiareSicuri.it<\/em>, developed by the
\nCrisis Unit, which contains continuously updated profiles of all countries<\/strong>: general information,
\nsecurity and safety, health situation, weather conditions, precautions to take, and useful links.<\/p>\n

A service conceived, designed and developed also to encourage informed and responsible travel choices,
\n<\/strong>as well as a vigilant attitude and behaviour appropriate to the places visited.<\/p>\n

It is important to check ViaggiareSicuri.it<\/em> before departure and during the trip, because the security and
\nsafety situations of foreign countries and the regulatory and administrative measures can change quickly. The Crisis
\nUnit is committed to continuous updating: it publishes specific warnings whenever necessary in the section
\nAvvisi in Evidenza<\/strong> (Highlights), and provides the most recent updates<\/strong> in the Country
\nProfiles on the homepage. The interactive map of the world<\/strong> shows the main warnings, the special caution
\nregions and the most relevant health risk situations.<\/p>\n

ACI also provides a telephone assistance service with specific reference to road mobility issues abroad. The service is
\nactive 24 hours a day at the following number: +39 06 491115<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Prevention also means quickly issuing security and safety tips, advice and warnings to fellow countrymen.<\/p>\n

For this reason, the portal DovesiamonelMondo.it<\/em> has been created to enable travellers to enter their travel
\nitinerary and contact details. In the event of an emergency, the Crisis Unit will be able to activate the
\ncontacts entered into the portal<\/strong>, making coordination with those who are in the affected areas quicker,
\nmore targeted and effective, and planning any interventions accordingly.<\/p>\n

Specific services have been developed for individual travel and traveller categories<\/strong>: tourism,
\nbusiness, humanitarian and cooperation workers, media, sport, school, university and research.<\/p>\n

All data are automatically deleted <\/strong>two days after your return, and are only used in an emergency to
\nfacilitate an intervention by the Crisis Unit.<\/p>\n

The new APP of the Crisis Unit for smartphones and tablets<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Crisis Unit has developed a new free APP<\/strong> for smartphones and tablets that integrates all
\nthe services of ViaggiareSicuri.it and DovesiamonelMondo.it<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new APP makes use of advanced global mapping resources and provides users travelling abroad with the possibility to
\nbe geolocalised<\/strong>, receive notifications <\/strong>during transit in the highest risk areas,
\nreal-time updates on dangerous situations, and confirm they are safe following crisis events, wherever in the world they
\noccur.<\/p>\n
