The project recounts a dynamic Third Sector at the service of the community, which produces significant economic value and constitutes a constantly evolving laboratory of social entrepreneurship to improve the quality of individual and collective life.

The exhibition – curated by Baringo, a social communication laboratory founded by Cosimo Bizzarri and Matteo de Mayda – is the result of a dialogue between art and the third sector. Through their camera lens and artistic perspective, six photographers document the work of as many Italian non-profit associations, highlighting the universal demands and values that transversally animate the Third Sector. The final result is a project characterised by heterogeneous languages, which aims at overcoming the clichés of the representation of the social, showing the Italian Third Sector in the variety of its actors, in the plurality of its activities, in the multiplicity of emotions it generates.

The Associations featured in the exhibition operate in different local areas and sectors connected to the Sustainable Development Goals: sport – Calciosociale (Rome); legality – Cooperativa La Paranza (Naples); social integration – Il Bar Senza Nome (Bologna); women’s empowerment – SheTech (Milan); urban regeneration – Farm Cultural Park (Favara); entrepreneurship – Talking Hands (Treviso).

The job of interpreting the work of these six associations was entrusted to a collective and five authors who are not exclusively concerned with social photography, but have been able to range between different genres over the years, each consolidating their own poetics: Terraproject, Alessandro Imbriaco, Louis De Belle, Federica Sasso, Marina Caneve, Giulia Iacolutti.

Open in Hamburg until 9 June, the exhibition “Italia Inclusiva” will continue its international tour in the following months with the support of the network of Embassies, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes.

Foto credits: Louis De Belle- Associazione Bar Senza Nome Bologna

The photographic video exhibition “Italia Inclusiva” (Inclusive Italy), an original project of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation designed to recount the wealth of experiences and skills developed by the Italian Third Sector abroad, opens today at the Italian Cultural Institute of Hamburg.
