Silvio Mignano has a degree in law and has been a diplomat since 1991. His first postings were in Cuba and Kenya, after which he served as Consul General in Basle and Ambassador in Bolivia. He has always accompanied his diplomatic career with his literary work, which he views as a vital part of his personality and by no means \u201cjust a hobby\u201d. <\/P>

Mignano has published a number of books \u2013 novels \u201cUna lezione sull’amore\u201d (Fazi, 1999) and \u201cLe porte dell’inferno\u201d (Fazi, 2001), and the poetry collections \u201cTaccuino nero per il viaggio\u201d (Caramanica, 2003), \u201cNon abbiamo uno sceneggiatore di scorta\u201d (Gente Com\u00fan, 2009) and \u201cLa nostra ribelle nuova educazione\u201d (Manni, 2011). He has also penned a collection of stories \u201cIl regalo del rinoceronte\u201d (Manni, 2004), which he also illustrated. He has contributed to literary reviews such as \u201cL’Indice dei libri del mese\u201d and \u201cL’immaginazione\u201d. His books have been translated into Spanish. <\/P>

Awards and film work<\/STRONG><\/P> With \u201cLa nostra ribelle buona educazione\u201d Silvio Mignano won the distinguished Sertoli Salis Prize for the best Italian book of poetry. <\/P> His work for the cinema includes the screenplay of Claudio Del Punta\u2019s \u201cHaiti ch\u00e9rie\u201d (2007). He won the Young Jury Prize at the Locarno Festival and the prize for best screenplay at the Mons International Love Film Festival in Belgium.<\/P> Silvio Mignano is also an artist, illustrator and curator. He organised Mimmo Rotella\u2019s \u201cAvenue Rotella\u201d exhibition at the Museum Tinguely in Basle in 2006, curated along with Germano Celant.
