This morning, Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano opened the webinar on the World Water Day, as part of the cycle of web meetings \u201cTechnology Sapiens \u2013 Road to Earth Technology Expo 2021\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWater is a cross-border good par excellence<\/i>,\u201d the Deputy Minister said, \u201cthe unconventional use of which can give rise to conflict. At the same time, water is an essential element for the well-being of peoples, for food security, rural development and the sustainability of the agri-food sector, for combating climate change and building a new green economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Foreign Ministry is consistently committed to keeping the spotlight on water in all international forums, an issue on which Italy invests not only in financial terms but also in terms of human resources and investment in science and research. Today, the candidacy of Florence and Assisi was finalized to host the 2024 World Water Forum, one of the world\u2019s major water events, organised every three years by the World Water Council (WWC).<\/p>\n
\u201cThis commitment is part of a new green strategy of ecological and energy transition towards a sustainable production and social model, looking ahead to the next generations and to 2050.
