{"id":114724,"date":"2024-03-22T11:16:35","date_gmt":"2024-03-22T10:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2024\/03\/sud-africa-numerosi-eventi-per-litalian-design-day\/"},"modified":"2024-03-22T11:26:09","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T10:26:09","slug":"sud-africa-numerosi-eventi-per-litalian-design-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2024\/03\/sud-africa-numerosi-eventi-per-litalian-design-day\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa, many events for the Italian Design Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Italian Embassy in South Africa<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>the Italian Consulate General in Johannesburg, the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria<\/strong>\u00a0celebrated the 8th edition of the\u00a0<strong><em>Italian Design Day<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the annual appointment dedicated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to design and architecture \u201cMade in Italy\u201d \u2013 through a series of events<strong>\u00a0from 18 to 20 march 2024.<\/strong>\u00a0These events saw as the protagonist Marva Griffin, founder and curator of Salone.Satellite and Ambassador of International Relations at Salone del Mobile.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme,\u00a0<em>\u201cManufacturing value: inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability\u201d,<\/em>\u00a0focused on the importance of the production process and its capacity of creating industrial design objects that are \u201cbeautiful\u201d from an aesthetic point of view, but also of high \u201cmaterial\u201d value, as a result of quality raw materials and manufacturing processes that combine tradition and craftsmanship with technologies and environmental sustainability. Especially in this edition, the IDD allowed to effectively promote in South Africa\u00a0<strong>Salone del Mobile of Milan<\/strong>, which will take place from 16 to 21 April 2024 and represents one of the most important events for the furniture and design industry globally.<\/p>\n<p>On the morning of 18 March, Marva Griffin took part to a meeting with interior design, industrial design and architectur students at the University of Johannesburg, managed by the Italian Consulate General in Johannesburg. In the evening, the Consulate General organised also a convivial event with selected representatives of the sector at the multi-storey showroom entirely dedicated to Italian furniture \u201cIl Lusso\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On 19 March, Marva Griffin gave a lecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Industrial Design of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Pretoria, opened by the Italian Ambassador in South Africa Alberto Vecchi.
