Italy\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, today received Canada\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs M\u00e9lanie Joly at Villa Madama.<\/p>\n
As stated by Deputy Prime Minister Tajani, \u201crelations between Italy and Canada are currently booming, benefiting from a phase of intense synergy and cooperation, as evidenced by the high frequency of institutional meetings between the two countries in recent years\u201d.<\/p>\n
Once again condemning Iran\u2019s recent attack on Israel, Minister Tajani emphasised the need to avoid a further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, and recalled the Italian Government\u2019s efforts, also in its role as G7 Presidency, to urge the parties involved to exercise restraint.<\/p>\n
Ample space was also devoted to the conflict in Ukraine and the actions that the two NATO member states intend to implement to support Kiev for however long it takes to achieve a just peace.<\/p>\n
The meeting then focused on the shared commitments within the G7 Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting, scheduled to take place in Capri from 17 to 19 April.
