{"id":116753,"date":"2024-05-07T14:10:24","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T12:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2024\/05\/farnesina-sottosegretario-tripodi-riceve-rappresentante-speciale-nato-irene-fellin\/"},"modified":"2024-05-07T14:28:34","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T12:28:34","slug":"farnesina-sottosegretario-tripodi-riceve-rappresentante-speciale-nato-irene-fellin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2024\/05\/farnesina-sottosegretario-tripodi-riceve-rappresentante-speciale-nato-irene-fellin\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreign Ministry, Undersecretary Tripodi received NATO Special Representative Irene Fellin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, received the \u00a0NATO Secretary General&#8217;s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security, Irene Fellin, at the Foreign Ministry.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The Undersecretary expressed her appreciation for the Atlantic Alliance&#8217;s new multi-year strategy for implementing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, which will be adopted by the Heads of State and Government at the NATO Summit in Washington next July.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">This strategy will enable NATO to be even more at the forefront in implementing the Agenda, which originated with UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) and aims &#8211;\u00a0<i>inter alia<\/i>\u00a0&#8211; to promote women\u2019s full and effective participation in negotiation processes and to combat all forms of violence against women and girls in armed conflicts.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The irreplaceable contribution provided by the Alliance in the context of Russia&#8217;s aggression against Ukraine was discussed, in line with the three areas of NATO action: deterrence and defence; crisis prevention and management; cooperative security.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Italy plays a leading role worldwide in the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.
