{"id":118234,"date":"2024-06-07T12:18:17","date_gmt":"2024-06-07T10:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2024\/06\/bolivia-ambasciatore-messineo-riceve-riconoscimento-per-cooperazione-medica-con-litalia\/"},"modified":"2024-06-07T14:16:09","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T12:16:09","slug":"bolivia-ambasciatore-messineo-riceve-riconoscimento-per-cooperazione-medica-con-litalia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/retediplomatica\/2024\/06\/bolivia-ambasciatore-messineo-riceve-riconoscimento-per-cooperazione-medica-con-litalia\/","title":{"rendered":"Bolivia \u2013 Ambassador Messineo receives award for Italy\u2019s cooperation in the medical field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Academic Board of the Universidad Mayor de San Andres (UMSA) university in La Paz honoured Ambassador of Italy Fabio Messineo with the \u201cMariscal Andres de Santa Cruz\u201d medal \u2013 the highest award of Bolivia\u2019s largest public university \u2013 for the 25 years of cooperation between the Italian Embassy in Bolivia and the Cell Biology Unit of the UMSA Faculty of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>During the ceremony held in La Paz, the Unit\u2019s Director, professor Ricardo Amaru, spoke of having specialised in haematology in Bergamo and, on his return to Bolivia, of having received support from colleagues at the University of Milan Bicocca, the \u201cPaolo Belli\u201d Leukaemia Association of Bergamo, and the Italian Embassy to set up the first laboratory capable of diagnosing leukaemia in La Paz.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to constant cooperation with Italian research centres, the Cell Biology Unit in La Paz has become the centre of reference for the fight against leukaemia in Bolivia, offering free diagnoses for children and low-cost diagnoses for adults.
