This year\u2019s award went to Piero <strong>Damosso<\/strong>, <strong>Tg1<\/strong> journalist, editor-in-chief and curator of the Tg1 <em>Dialogo<\/em> column, for his <strong>book<\/strong> <em>Pu\u00f2 la Chiesa fermare la guerra? <\/em><em>Un\u2019inchiesta a sessant\u2019anni dalla Pacem in terris<\/em>, published in 2023 by Edizioni San Paolo.<\/p>\n<p>His <strong>Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State<\/strong>, spoke at the event, taking the floor after the introductory greetings of <strong>Italian Ambassador<\/strong> Francesco <strong>Di Nitto<\/strong> and <strong>EU Ambassador<\/strong> Alexandra <strong>Valkenburg<\/strong>, co-presidents of the Award <strong>Jury<\/strong>. He emphasised the value of <strong>Pope<\/strong> <strong>John<\/strong> <strong>XXIII<\/strong>\u2019s encyclical, describing it as a \u2018testament\u2019 and a \u2018heritage to be preserved and nurtured\u2019. The Secretary of State insisted on the importance of pursuing <strong>diplomacy<\/strong> in the face of <strong>conflict<\/strong> situations, and recalled the Holy Father\u2019s pleas for people to be \u201cartisans of peace\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/strong> Antonio <strong>Tajani<\/strong> participated in the event with a written <strong>message<\/strong> of greeting in which he spoke of the <strong>Italian Government<\/strong>\u2019s front-line commitment to peace. He also mentioned the decisive contribution by the Popes to <strong>world peace<\/strong>, in particular that of Pope John XXIII and <strong>Pope John Paul II<\/strong> during two particularly complex historical moments, as well as <strong>Pope Francis<\/strong>\u2019 current \u201ctireless efforts\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Paola <strong>Severino<\/strong>, President of the <strong>Luiss<\/strong> School of Law, who was interviewed by Damosso in the winning book, also participated in the event, holding a conversation with the author.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Ambassadors to the Holy See Literary Award<\/strong> was launched five years ago on the initiative of a group of Ambassadors accredited to the Holy See and is aimed at <strong>authors of books published in Italian<\/strong> and intended for the general public that deal with themes relating to Christian <strong>culture<\/strong> and <strong>values<\/strong>, relations between Christian Churches and States, the history of the Churches and interreligious dialogue. The Award <strong>Jury<\/strong> is co-chaired by the Italian and EU Ambassadors to the Holy See, and is made up of the Ambassadors of Albania, Australia, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Lithuania, North Macedonia, the Order of Malta, Portugal and Uruguay. This year, for the first time, the Jury awarded a <strong>special mention<\/strong> as \u2018emerging writer\u2019 to Rocco <strong>De Stefano<\/strong>, a copywriter born in 1986 and author of the book <em>L\u2019influencer di Dio<\/em>, published by Tau Editrice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The award ceremony for the Ambassadors to the Holy See Literary Award was held on the evening of 2 July at Palazzo Borromeo.
