The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will take part in the 45th edition of the Rimini Meeting on Thursday 22 August.<\/p>\n
Minister Tajani will speak together with Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, at the dialogue \u2018Paths for Peace\u2019, as moderated by Bernhard Scholz, President of the Meeting Foundation for Friendship Among Peoples. Following this, the Minister will meet the press at the Pavilion of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
\u201cRimini has always been an excellent opportunity to promote the values of peace and international cooperation,\u201d said Tajani, adding that \u201cin this historical phase, dialogue is more fundamental than ever to identify concrete solutions to the ongoing crises in the world, from the Middle East to Ukraine. With our diplomatic action, also as G7 presidents, we are working for a de-escalation together with the relevant regional and global actors.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is taking part in the Rimini Meeting with an International Pavilion, this year entitled \u2018There is a Cooperating Italy\u2019. Special attention will be given to the initiatives of the Italian system of development cooperation and its national and international partners.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, we decided to focus on Africa and on the major projects of Italian Cooperation on the continent,\u201d said the Italian Deputy Prime Minister, recalling that \u201cthe equal partnership approach on which the Mattei Plan is based is at the heart of Italy\u2019s strategy towards Africa. Following the Italy-Africa Summit in January, we have already organised three missions of the Italian cooperation system to Africa this year, and others will follow. We have placed relations with the African continent at the heart of the Italian G7 Presidency and we will continue to do so at the G7 Development meeting in Pescara at the end of October. We will focus on how to combine security and sustainable development with a particular focus on Africa,\u201d Tajani concluded.<\/p>\n
