{"id":123231,"date":"2024-09-20T10:15:48","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T08:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2024\/09\/sofia-le-celebrazioni-per-raina-kabaivanska\/"},"modified":"2024-09-20T11:24:53","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T09:24:53","slug":"sofia-le-celebrazioni-per-raina-kabaivanska","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2024\/09\/sofia-le-celebrazioni-per-raina-kabaivanska\/","title":{"rendered":"Sofia: Celebrations for Raina Kabaivanska"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 15 September, the Italian Embassy in Sofia and the New Bulgarian University (NBU), in collaboration with the Plovdiv Opera as part of the Opera Open 2024 Festival, celebrated the 90<sup>th<\/sup> birthday of the Bulgarian-Italian soprano Raina Kabaivanska with a gala concert conducted by Maestro (and Minister of Culture) Nayden Todorov, set against the backdrop of the Roman Theatre of Plovdiv.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured some of the most prominent representatives of the Kabaivanska School, as well as scholarship recipients from her Foundation at the NBU, who have already performed in opera houses worldwide: Aleksandrina Mihaylova, soprano (Bulgaria); Baia Saganelidze, mezzo-soprano (Georgia); Veronica Simeoni, mezzo-soprano (Italy); Milla Mihova, soprano (Bulgaria); Reinaldo Droz, tenor (Venezuela); Sofia Soloviy, soprano (Ukraine), and Toni Nezic, bass (Croatia). The evening\u2019s programme was dedicated to the performance of the most famous arias that have marked Raina Kabaivanska&#8217;s extraordinary career in the world\u2019s leading opera houses.<\/p>\n<p>The series of events celebrating Kabaivanska\u2019s 90<sup>th<\/sup> birthday was inaugurated with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s New Year\u2019s concert (December 2023).
