Last night, the first charter flight organised by the Italian Government, at the initiative of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, landed at Rome Fiumicino\u2019s \u201cLeonardo Da Vinci\u201d International Airport, facilitating the return of Italian nationals from Lebanon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have encouraged all Italians to leave Lebanon via commercial flights, and we have worked to increase the availability of these flights through charter services,\u201d said the Minister, explaining how the Government has been collaborating with airlines to address the issue of fully booked commercial flights. \u201cWe continue to monitor the situation of Italians in Lebanon through our Embassy in Beirut and the Crisis Unit,\u201d added Deputy Prime Minister Tajani, stressing that \u201cwe are ready to take any necessary steps to ensure the safety of our Italian nationals, but for now, we are ruling out the possibility of an evacuation.\u201d<\/p>\n
With last night\u2019s flight, 178 Italian nationals returned to Italy. Further charter flights will be organised in the coming days.
