G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 October 2024<\/strong>, the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting<\/strong> will be held in Pescara, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The meeting aims to strengthen international humanitarian coordination<\/strong> in the Middle East<\/strong>, particularly addressing the difficult situation in Lebanon and Gaza, and to consolidate a new strategic approach towards Africa<\/strong>, promoted by our country, based on equitable partnerships and shared economic growth<\/strong>. The Italian Presidency has chosen to focus the work in Pescara on three priority themes: food security and sustainable agri-food systems, sustainable infrastructure and investments, and global health.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In particular, the G7 Ministers and their guests will follow up on the commitments made by the Leaders in the Final Communiqu\u00e9 of Borgo Egnazia concerning the G7 Food Systems Initiative (AFSI),<\/strong> specifically regarding the connections between climate and agri-food systems, between finance and climate, and the crucial issue of child malnutrition<\/strong>. The Ministers will then focus on the topic of food assistance in the Middle East<\/strong> to identify shared solutions to the urgent humanitarian needs of the civilian population. Discussions will also cover access to water resources<\/strong> and new strategies for the sustainability of coffee value chains<\/strong>, with particular attention to African farmers. Regarding global infrastructure and investments<\/strong>, the G7 Ministers will address projects with high transformative potential<\/strong> and possible synergies with the Mattei Plan<\/strong> and the EU’s Global Gateway. Common strategies<\/strong> will also be explored in the fields of education, health, and reducing inequalities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Advance accreditation for media representatives is mandatory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Requests for accreditation<\/strong> must be submitted by 12:00 a.m. (local time) on Wednesday 16 October 2024 through the G7 Portal, by registering at the link <\/strong>https:\/\/www.g7-2024.it\/<\/strong><\/a> – (Ministerial Meeting of Development Ministers 22-24 October \u2013 Pescara \u2013 \u201cMedia\u201d section),<\/strong> uploading the specified documentation.<\/p>\n

Journalists and camera operators already accredited for previous G7 Ministerial meetings will require specific accreditation for the Development Ministers’ Meeting.<\/p>\n

Please note that it is necessary to apply for pool registration in advance <\/strong>by writing to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it<\/a>. Press and Pool badges could be collected<\/strong> in Pescara, at the Press Accreditation Centre, the location and opening hours of which will be communicated later (see Media Handbook).<\/u><\/p>\n
