{"id":124417,"date":"2024-10-09T12:07:10","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T10:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2024\/10\/madama-butterfly-in-scena-a-bahia-blanca\/"},"modified":"2024-10-09T15:07:41","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T13:07:41","slug":"madama-butterfly-in-scena-a-bahia-blanca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2024\/10\/madama-butterfly-in-scena-a-bahia-blanca\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cMadama Butterfly\u201d on stage in Bahia Blanca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to the support of the <strong>Italian Consulate General in Bahia Blanca<\/strong> and the collaboration developed with the organisation of artists from southern Argentina <em>OAS-Organizzazione degli Artisti del Sud argentino<\/em>, the Italian Cultural Institute in Buenos Aires, the local Municipality and the Bahia Blanca Theatre brought Italian opera back to the entire district of Argentinean Patagonia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cMadama Butterfly\u201d <\/strong>was staged for three evenings at the Municipal Theatre of Bahia Blanca, on 1, 3 and 5 October, as part of the <strong>centenary<\/strong> commemorations of Giacomo <strong>Puccini\u2019s<\/strong> death. To mark the 120<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the opera\u2019s first performance, the artistic curators chose to stage the version presented at <em>La Scala<\/em> in Milan in <strong>1904<\/strong>. With Puccini\u2019s opera, the OAS also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the creation of the organisation\u2019s permanent choir, which was involved in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Starring the OAS Permanent Orchestra and Choir, as well as guest singers, the performance involved <strong>more than 100 performers on stage<\/strong>, and offered the opportunity to experience the painful history and exquisite musical composition of the early 20<sup>th<\/sup> century. In addition, two <strong>interdisciplinary round tables<\/strong> for reflection and debate were held under the title <strong>\u201cThe Political, Social and Cultural Dimension of Madama Butterfly\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMadama Butterfly\u201d is a tragic story set in Japan and told through the perspective of Cio-Cio-San, a young Japanese woman whose life is intertwined with that of an American naval officer.
