{"id":127963,"date":"2024-12-03T15:19:04","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T14:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2024\/12\/mumbai-omaggio-a-giacomo-puccini\/"},"modified":"2024-12-03T17:34:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T16:34:32","slug":"mumbai-omaggio-a-giacomo-puccini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2024\/12\/mumbai-omaggio-a-giacomo-puccini\/","title":{"rendered":"Mumbai: homage to Giacomo Puccini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past 29 November, <strong>100 years <\/strong>after the composer\u2019s death, Mumbai celebrated the <strong>genius of Giacomo Puccini <\/strong>at India\u2019s oldest opera venue, the <strong>Royal Opera House<\/strong>, with an opera gala organized by the <strong>Consulate General of Italy<\/strong> and the <strong>Italian Cultural Institute of Mumbai<\/strong>, in collaboration with the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation, Furtados, Avid Learning, and Royal Opera House Mumbai, on the occasion of the <strong>Indian stop <\/strong>on the <strong><em>Amerigo Vespucci<\/em> World tour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to collaboration with <strong>Comitato Nazionale per le Celebrazioni Pucciniane<\/strong>, world-class performers like the <strong>soprano<\/strong> Maria Pia<strong> Piscitelli<\/strong>, the <strong>tenor <\/strong>Renzo <strong>Zulian<\/strong>, and the <strong>baritone <\/strong>Pier Luigi <strong>Dilengite<\/strong>, to the <strong>piano <\/strong>accompaniment of Linda <strong>Di Carlo<\/strong>, ascended to the stage to offer <strong>Puccini\u2019s arias<\/strong> to the Indian public.<\/p>\n<p>Antonio <strong>Bartoli<\/strong>, the <strong>Italian Ambassador to India<\/strong>, opened the festivities by welcoming the public, which included <strong>the delegation of the Ministry of Defence and of the <em>Amerigo Vespucci<\/em><\/strong>, with the <strong>Chief Mate<\/strong>, <strong>Frigate Captain<\/strong> Tommaso <strong>Faraldo<\/strong>, <strong>Admiral<\/strong> Antonio <strong>Natale<\/strong>, <strong>colonel <\/strong>Elio <strong>Babbo<\/strong>, <strong>Difesa e Servizi CEO <\/strong>Luca <strong>Andreoli<\/strong>, and a large representation of Indian authorities on hand.<\/p>\n<p>Walter <strong>Ferrara, the Italian General Consul in Mumbai<\/strong>, had this to say about the event: \u201cOn the occasion of the centennial of the Giacomo Puccini\u2019s death, it was an honour to be able to present his most famous arias in Mumbai as part of the Indian stop of the <em>Amerigo Vespucci<\/em> \u2013 Villaggio Italia World Tour.
