Today, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani chaired the third meeting of the \u201cTable on Italian businesses in Russia\u201d at the Farnesina, as devoted to safeguarding the interests of Italian businesses in the country in the light of the complex situation currently unfolding.<\/p>\n
The topics discussed included the banking and customs sectors in relation to the sanctions framework; the effective implementation of sanctions in order to avoid distorting effects on the Italian economy; and the authorisations issued as an exception by the individual competent national authorities, which allow for the export\/import of goods that would otherwise be sanctioned if certain conditions are met. The round table meeting with business and banking associations and companies was followed by an exchange of views with institutional counterparts, as aimed at providing clarifications and reassurances on the safeguarding of the legitimate interests of Italian citizens and companies operating in the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Italian government is following the evolution of the situation in the Russian Federation with the utmost attention, in order to safeguard the legitimate interests of our businesses, which operate in compliance with the sanctioning framework currently in force,\u201d commented Tajani, emphasising the entire Italian System\u2019s commitment to providing concrete answers and assistance through increasingly intense collaboration between institutions and economic operators.<\/p>\n
The round table organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which met for the third time since May this year, was also attended by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Confindustria, Italian Trade Agency, Bank of Italy, the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency, and representatives of the main Italian companies with significant investments in the Federation, as well as trade associations and companies representing production sectors particularly exposed to the Russian market.<\/p>\n
The Italian Embassy in Moscow and the trade associations representing the demands of the Italian business community in Russia (GIM Unimpresa; Confindustria Russia; Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce) also participated via videoconferencing.<\/p>\n
