G7 <\/strong>Side event <\/strong>under the Italian Presidency \u201cInformation Warfare, Hybrid Threats and Nuclear Risk: The Hidden Threats of a Digital Age\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nOn Thursday 12 December 2024,<\/strong>\u00a0the G7 side event under the Italian Presidency \u201cInformation Warfare, Hybrid Threats and Nuclear Risk: The Hidden Threats of a Digital Age<\/strong>\u201d, organised by the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs of the Harvard Kennedy School and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs of Harvard University, will be held in Rome at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.<\/p>\n

The event, entirely open to the press<\/u>, will take place in English<\/u>. It will begin at 9:00 a.m.<\/strong>, with the opening speech by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Giorgio Silli.<\/strong> The conclusions, scheduled for 5:15 p.m.<\/strong>, will be entrusted to the Executive Director of the Belfer Center, Francesca Giovannini<\/strong>, and the Senior Fellow of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security<\/a> of the Atlantic Council Beniamino Irdi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The first session of the work, entitled \u201cRussia and the West: Nuclear Risks and Hybrid Threats<\/strong>\u201d, will address the issues of nuclear risk in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Russian deterrence strategy and NATO\u2019s approach to the Eastern Front. During the second session, \u201cThe Asia Pacific Landscape – Nuclear Risks and Hybrid Threats<\/strong>\u201d, the risk of nuclear escalation in Asia-Pacific, the impact of Beijing\u2019s strategic influence on transatlantic relations and China\u2019s influence operations in the West will be further explored. The third session, entitled \u201cHow is strategic communication in the age of cyber and information warfare changing and affecting decision-making?<\/strong>\u201d, will be dedicated to countering malicious actors in the field of information, information and cyber warfare, as well as the threat posed by deepfakes. Finally, during the session \u201cHow to manage hybrid threats and reduce nuclear risks in this digital age?<\/strong>\u201d, systemic challenges to global security, strategic decision-making processes in the nuclear context, hybrid threats and public communication will be discussed.<\/p>\n
