Further scholarships for Palestinian students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A few days after his last mission to Israel and Palestine, tomorrow the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be chairing a meeting of the technical round table on the 2Food for Gaza\u201d humanitarian initiative at the Foreign Ministry, to provide further momentum to Italy&#8217;s commitment to supporting peace in the Middle East and reconstruction in Gaza. The Minister of University and Research, Hon. Anna Maria Bernini, will also be present.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Minister Tajani said: \u201dFollowing the ceasefire agreement, Italy will be in a position to further strengthen its humanitarian commitment, thanks to the activities linked to the \u201cFood for Gaza\u201d initiative, in favour of the civilian population. In cooperation with Minister Bernini, we have decided to increase scholarships for young Palestinians, who represent the future of the Holy Land\u201d\u2019.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">With the launch of the \u201cFood for Gaza\u201d initiative in March 2024, Italy has been at the forefront from the very first moment and has already contributed by sending around 100 tonnes of aid. A ship with further 15 tonnes of emergency goods is also scheduled to leave in the coming days, as well as 15 trucks for the WFP to distribute aid to the population of Gaza. The participants at the round table will discuss developments to cope with the emergency, as well as prospects for reconstruction. Following the agreement between Israel and Hamas, the situation in the Gaza Strip remains problematic and, according to the United Nations, two million people are in dire need of food and other basic necessities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cFood for Gaza\u201d is a coordinated humanitarian intervention initiative that aims to strengthen collaboration with international bodies and regional partners to maximise the impact and efficiency of efforts in support of the population of Gaza.
