During his discussion with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Mercado, they explored the prospects of the Italy-Mexico Strategic Partnership in economic and trade relations, scientific and academic cooperation, justice, and security. They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening ties between Italy, the European Union, Latin America, and the Caribbean, particularly in preparation for the 4<sup>th<\/sup> EU-CELAC Summit in Bogot\u00e1 and the 12<sup>th<\/sup> Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference in Rome.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting with Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Enrique Javier Ochoa Mart\u00ednez, provided an opportunity to discuss collaboration within the United Nations, particularly regarding Security Council reform, as well as key regional issues (Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Cuba). Collaboration on energy transition, including the potential development of joint projects in the electric mobility sector, was the focus of his meeting with Undersecretary of Electricity, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rojas Nieto.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in discussions with Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard, Silli explored possible synergies in the economic and business sectors, investment opportunities for Italian companies, and bilateral cooperation in the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Italy\u2019s relations with Mexico\u2014our top export destination in Latin America\u2014are central to our dynamic and fruitful engagement with countries in the region,&#8221; Silli remarked. &#8220;The already significant presence of Italian businesses in Mexico could be further expanded by seizing the great opportunities the country has to offer.&#8221; The Undersecretary concluded by highlighting that his regular visits to Mexico &#8220;aim to strengthen economic relations and investments in both directions, as well as synergies in academic, scientific, and cultural fields, alongside justice and security.
