The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be on a mission to Charlevoix, Canada, from 12 to 14 March to take part in the G7 Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting, the first under the Canadian Presidency.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe G7 is a crucial platform for allies to discuss major international issues,\u201d Minister Tajani stated, stressing the importance of maintaining unity among partners to provide effective responses and find concrete solutions to the various global crises.<\/p>\n
The discussions will officially begin on 13 March. The ministers will focus on the conflict in Ukraine, providing an opportunity for dialogue with the United States, particularly in light of recent talks with Ukrainian authorities in Jeddah. On this issue, Minister Tajani will emphasise the need to uphold transatlantic unity in pursuit of a just and lasting peace\u2014one that ensures Ukraine\u2019s independence and sovereignty while also safeguarding European security.<\/p>\n
Another key topic on the agenda will be the strengthening of the G7 framework, as the group marks its 50th anniversary. Tajani will highlight Italy\u2019s efforts last year, during its presidency, to revitalise the G7\u2019s role, including by expanding dialogue with other global and regional players.<\/p>\n
The ministers will also discuss the situation in the Indo-Pacific, recognising its stability and prosperity as closely linked to that of Europe and the wider world, alongside developments in the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa. Minister Tajani will propose joint action to support peace and reconstruction in the Middle East, while also underlining the challenges and opportunities presented by Africa. He will stress the need to keep cooperation open with regional and global partners, particularly within the G20 framework.<\/p>\n
During his mission, Minister Tajani will hold several bilateral meetings, including with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, Canadian Foreign Minister M\u00e9lanie Joly, and European partners.<\/p>\n
To conclude his visit, he will travel to Quebec City for a meeting with a group of Italian entrepreneurs operating in Canada, focusing on fostering new growth opportunities between Italy and Canada.<\/p>\n
