{"id":134733,"date":"2025-04-09T10:08:33","date_gmt":"2025-04-09T08:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2025\/04\/mumbai-sonic-ties-tra-italia-e-india\/"},"modified":"2025-04-09T11:36:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T09:36:57","slug":"mumbai-sonic-ties-tra-italia-e-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2025\/04\/mumbai-sonic-ties-tra-italia-e-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Mumbai, \u201cSonic Ties\u201d between Italy and India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u201c<strong>Sonic Ties<\/strong>\u201d project marked an important milestone in the <strong>cultural collaboration between Italy and India<\/strong>, celebrating <strong>Indian classical music<\/strong> and <strong>Mediterranean jazz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the <strong>Italian Cultural Institute of Mumbai<\/strong> in collaboration with the <strong>Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai<\/strong> and the <strong>Consulate General of Italy in Bangalore<\/strong>, the event was supported by local institutions such as the <strong>NCPA in Mumbai<\/strong> and the <strong>Bangalore International Centre<\/strong>. <strong>Two concerts<\/strong>, in Mumbai and Bangalore, featured the Carnatic singer <strong>Bindhu Malini<\/strong> and percussionist Pramath <strong>Kiran<\/strong>, alongside the group leader Enzo <strong>Favata<\/strong>, on saxophone and electronics, and Fabio <strong>Giachino<\/strong> on keyboards.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Consul General in Mumbai<\/strong>, Walter <strong>Ferrara<\/strong>, emphasised: \u201c<strong>Sonic Ties<\/strong> is a perfect example of how music can<strong> transcend borders<\/strong> and foster a deeper <strong>mutual understanding<\/strong> between Italy and India. This project is set to further strengthen the <strong>cultural ties<\/strong> between our two countries\u201d. Alfonso <strong>Tagliaferri<\/strong>, <strong>Consul General of Italy in Bangalore<\/strong>, added: \u201cWe are thrilled to have hosted this <strong>new collaboration between the talented Italian musicians and the key figures in the Bangalore music scene<\/strong>. These concerts not only celebrate the talent of both countries but also highlight how music can be a powerful tool to unite<strong> different artistic traditions<\/strong>\u201d. Francesca <strong>Amendola<\/strong>, <strong>Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Mumbai<\/strong>, shared her enthusiasm: \u201cThis project is part of a <strong>long-term vision<\/strong> of collaboration that will allow us to explore new and innovative musical possibilities. The goal of Sonic Ties is to create a lasting connection that will continue to evolve beyond these concerts.
