It will be open to the public until 12 June at the Zurab Tsereteli Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).<\/p>\n<p>Curated by <strong>Paola Lasalandra<\/strong> and inaugurated by <strong>Ambassador Massimiliano D&#8217;Antuono<\/strong>, the exhibition presents a gallery of more than <strong>150<\/strong> strictly <strong>black-and-white<\/strong> <strong>photographs<\/strong> taken between <strong>1962<\/strong> and <strong>2011<\/strong>. The collection invites the viewer into the photographer\u2019s imaginary world, where <strong>characters exist between the real and the surreal,<\/strong> and where <strong>fantasy and magic<\/strong> prevail <strong>through metaphors, allegories, and symbols.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ambassador D\u2019Antuono commented: &#8220;<strong>The promotion of Italian photography<\/strong> is part of our <strong>cultural diplomacy,<\/strong> to which the <strong>Italian Embassy in Tbilisi is strongly committed.<\/strong> And who better than Mario Lasalandra \u2013 one of the most innovative and brilliant figures in contemporary Italian photography \u2013 to represent this art form at its best over the past 50 years?&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition opening featured a <strong>reinterpretation<\/strong> of the <strong>surreal performance \u201cMagico\u201d<\/strong>, conceived and produced by Lasalandra between 2003 and 2013 in San Felice sul Panaro. The <strong>performance<\/strong> and overall <strong>artistic direction<\/strong> of the project were curated by Georgian artist <strong>Irakli Nassidz\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kolga Tbilisi Photo<\/strong>, an international photography festival, this year brought together over 900 projects from 700 local and international photographers through exhibitions, events, and workshops. Among the shortlisted photographers were <strong>15 Italians<\/strong>, one of whom \u2013 freelance photographer <strong>Daniele Vita<\/strong> \u2013 won the <strong>award<\/strong> in the \u201c<strong>Reportage<\/strong>\u201d category with his project \u201c<strong>Joe The Aviator<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The exhibition \u201cPoets, masks, actors, ghosts\u201d by Mario Lasalandra \u2013 Italian photographer, set designer and painter \u2013 has been organised with the support of the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi as part of the 24th edition of the Kolga Photo Festival.
