Preparations are complete for the 5th edition of the conference \u201cItaly\u2019s contribution to excavation, research and study on archaeological missions in Turkey\u201d in Istanbul dedicated to art, history, culture and the defence of the archaeological landscape and, in particular, to the Made in Italy mission in Turkey. Participants in the 2-day event \u2013 Friday 21 and Saturday 22 March \u2013 who will illustrate the activities, ongoing progress and prospects for future research and excavation in archaeological missions in Turkey, will include 17 speakers from prominent Italian universities: Isabella Caneva, Marcella Frangipane, Stefania Mazzoni, Nicol\u00f2 Marchetti, Lorenzo d\u2019Alfonso, Francesco D\u2019Andria, Antonio La Marca, Marcello Spanu, Guido Rosada, Anna Lucia D\u2019Agata, Raffaella Pierobon Benoit, Eugenia Equini Schneider, Maria Andaloro, Eugenia Bolognesi Recchi, Alessandra Ricci, Claudia Barzanti and Eugenio Russo. The conference will be hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul, which has organised it in collaboration with the Embassy and Consulate General of Italy and the Italo-Turkish Friendship Association.<\/P>

<\/STRONG><\/P> Conference sessions<\/STRONG><\/STRONG><\/P> The sessions will be opened on Friday 21 March at 10:00 by Maria Luisa Scolari, acting attach\u00e9 of the Institute, to be followed by the interventions of Italian Ambassador to Turkey Gianpaolo Scarante and Turkish Minister for Culture and Tourism (Directorate General for Cultural and Museum Treasures, Head of Excavations Office) Melik Ayaz. The numerous interventions to be offered will begin with Isabella Caneva of the Universit\u00e0 del Salento, who will examine the theme of \u201cNews from an old site: Yumuktepe at almost 80 years from its discovery\u201d; followed by Marcella Frangipane of the Universit\u00e0 di Roma La Sapienza on \u201cThe Italian excavations at Arslantepe, Malatya.
