{"id":141598,"date":"2025-07-28T12:44:17","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T10:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2025\/07\/praga-mastroianni-in-mostra-con-lo-sguardo-di-marcello\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T14:21:50","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T12:21:50","slug":"praga-mastroianni-in-mostra-con-lo-sguardo-di-marcello","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2025\/07\/praga-mastroianni-in-mostra-con-lo-sguardo-di-marcello\/","title":{"rendered":"Prague, Mastroianni on show with \u201cMarcello\u2019s Gaze\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Italian Cultural Institute of Prague is hosting the photography exhibition <strong><em>Marcello\u2019s Gaze<\/em><\/strong> (<em>Lo sguardo di Marcello<\/em>) until 17 September, dedicated to the unforgettable Marcello Mastroianni, just over one hundred years after his birth.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight of Prague\u2019s summer cultural calendar, the exhibition was inaugurated on 17 July in the presence of numerous guests, including the <strong>Italian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mauro Marsili<\/strong>, and the exhibition\u2019s curator, Daniele Luxardo.\u00a0The exhibition unfolds across both the interior and exterior spaces of the Institute and features a carefully curated <strong>selection of 60<\/strong> large-format <strong>photographs<\/strong>, in both black and white and colour, drawn from the Luxardo photographic archive and other major Italian and international archives.<\/p>\n<p>The images retrace key moments in Mastroianni\u2019s extraordinary career, from his first performance alongside the young Sophia Loren \u2014 who would go on to become his most iconic on-screen partner \u2014 in <em>The Miller\u2019s Beautiful Wife<\/em> (1955) by Mario Camerini, to his renowned collaborations with directors such as Vittorio De Sica in <em>Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow and Marriage Italian Style<\/em>, Mauro Bolognini in <em>Il Bell\u2019Antonio<\/em> with the stunning Claudia Cardinale, and Federico Fellini in <em>La Dolce Vita, 8\u00bd, Ginger and Fred<\/em>. The exhibition devotes special attention to the <strong>unique bond between Mastroianni and Fellini,<\/strong> exploring their artistic partnership which defined an era of Italian and international cinema. In addition to film stills, the exhibition also includes photographs of Mastroianni in the later years of his career, marked by greater maturity and depth. These images capture the actor in complex, introspective roles under the direction of filmmakers such as Lattuada, Cavani, and Scola.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Prague under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in the Czech Republic, and forms part of <em>Fare Cinema 2025<\/em> \u2014 the annual programme dedicated to Italian cinema and its film industry, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Italian Cultural Institute of Prague is hosting the photography exhibition Marcello\u2019s Gaze (Lo sguardo di Marcello) until 17 September, dedicated to the unforgettable Marcello Mastroianni, just over one hundred years after his birth.
