Speaking from the Rimini Meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, took part in a G7 Foreign Ministers’ virtual meeting on Ukraine, held on the occasion of Ukraine\u2019s Independence Day. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also participated in the meeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cTransatlantic unity is essential to support the path toward negotiations with Moscow. Today, together with my G7 colleagues, we sent a strong political message of support to the Ukrainian Minister, aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, based on Ukraine\u2019s sovereign decisions. We are working toward solid security guarantees that must promote peace and stability in Europe,\u201d stated the Minister.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister Tajani also expressed Italy\u2019s readiness to make a concrete contribution, recalling the proposal for a collective security mechanism modeled on Article 5 of the NATO Treaty.<\/p>\n
Regarding reconstruction, Tajani highlighted the Ukraine Conference hosted in Rome last July, which saw the participation of over 2,000 companies and secured \u20ac10 billion in commitments, with more than 200 agreements signed.<\/p>\n
The Minister also reaffirmed Italy\u2019s commitment to addressing humanitarian issues related to the conflict, particularly efforts to ensure the return of Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n
Lastly, Tajani told Minister Sybiha that the fa\u00e7ade of the Farnesina building and the Colosseum would be lit up this evening in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. \u201cToday your flag is our flag.
