\u201cThe ministry of foreign affairs is working hard on its plan for a women-oriented EXPO. We truly want it to make a bit of history and that from now on an EXPO that disregards the leading role of women will be unimaginable\u201d. Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino spoke at the conference \u201cBuilding a Women\u2019s Partnership for Food Security\u201d, organised within the context of the project \u201cWomen for EXPO\u201d the day before the 6th Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference.<\/P>

An example for future expos<\/STRONG><\/P>
\n

The minister\u2019s hope is that the plan to organised a Women-oriented EXPO will be an example for future expos, \u201cwherever they are held\u201d. In fact, she remarked, \u201cthe next is going to be held in Dubai, so we would very much like to act as a bridge, we understand the difficulties, but hope that many things can happen over 5 years\u2019 time, and since starting off from an example sometimes makes it difficult to turn back\u201d.<\/P>

Bonino then announced that Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the Burmese opposition, had accepted her invitation to be a member of the board of “Women for Expo”, bearing witness to the fact that women\u2019s role in food security is \u201ca theme that concerns the entire world\u201d, the minister said, explaining that the EXPO 2015 would be \u201ca growth opportunity for the country\u201d. <\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cThe ministry of foreign affairs is working hard on its plan for a women-oriented EXPO.
